On Saturday I took Elizabeth and Brent to see my favorite hospital gazebo. The gate was locked again, but Elizabeth broke in because she's a gangster. Everyone needs a gangster on their team. We walked around and looked at the trees and birdhouses, and sat in the gazebo as the sun started to go down.
My hair has been falling out, very gradually. I get more hairs in my brush, and every time I run my fingers through my hair I'll get a small handful. Since I had all these stray hairs, we thought it'd be a good idea to leave them in the bushes for the birds to use in their nests. Cycle of life, right?
We ended up moving all the hair from the bushes to one of the birdhouses. It almost formed a perfect nest already. Now I have a little bag where I'm collecting my stray hairs, so I can give them to the birds later. Maybe it's the wrong season for nest building, but at least I feel better not throwing it in the trash. It's perfectly good hair.
My family came for a short visit yesterday and brought a special guest.
This was my first time seeing Pisco since I got to the hospital. I think he was excited to see me for a few seconds, but he was really excited about my mini fridge and the contents therein. It was good to see he was his usual self, really only caring about food, and also people, but only if the people might be a source of food.

Pisco is so cute! What a little dog he is. Just a dog's dog.
ReplyDeleteI love how you are recycling your hair, so to speak! Sounds like the birds do too!
ReplyDeleteCheers to Pisco for keeping it real: "Yeah, but that fridge tho."
ReplyDeleteThat Zissou octopus shirt though! Love it!
ReplyDeleteOh Sarah...this is the most beautiful post ever! I LOVE LOVE LOVE what you have done with your hair strands.
ReplyDeleteAn absolutely perfect thing to do! (Maybe I should do that with the years of collected shed cat whiskers I've saved in a box. Cat whiskers for birds' nests!) Such a touching, lovely idea, Sarah! And having handy "gansta" Elizabeth get you out in the gazebo! Yay to breaking and entering! And to top it off, you saw Pisco yesterday! Best Rx ever. Wow! What a great day.
And just as a side note......thank you again for continually keeping us all "in the loop!" when you are up to it. We all love you and it's important for us to ride this journey with you. We can do so via your fabulous blog. Thank you Sarah!
Sending kisses, hugs, smelly farts and belly laughs. xoxoxoxoxoxox All my love,
Jessica
My Lakota Sioux friend says they offer their hair as a gift to the gods because it's one of the only things you can truly give of yourself. The other thing you can offer is blood, ironically. Stick with the hair offerings and say a prayer as you make them! Love reading about your experiences everyday. F*ck hemorrhoids!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute dog!
